Final Week of the Blog Post (Week 10)

Hello everyone,

As you can see from my title, it is the final week of my blog post. Finally, I have managed to finish my assignment 1 question for Pedagogy in Education successfully. Therefore, I would like to sum up my entire blog post that I've been posting since week 1 up to week 9. Basically, this blog is all about how we can make our teaching and learning process in classroom to be captivating and how students can learn using these three school of thought. These three school of thought are the main branches that has been used for years in education world. With and without realizing about it, we are still learning on how to improve ourselves by using these three school of thoughts which are the:

Thank you for the support and guidance that you have given me directly and indirectly to fulfill this blog successfully. Hope to meet you soon in another blog post. Until then I'm Durasheeny signing out from this blog sadly.

Effective classroom management (Week 9)

Hello everyone,

Today I would like to share you about the effective classroom management. There are mainly three things that we need to follow in order to create an effective classroom management.

First will be the Rules and Regulations that a teacher want in her/his classroom where students can recognize the subject and the teacher for that particular period. They will be more discipline and organized when it comes to that teacher's class. Setting our own classroom rules will make ourselves as well as the students to be well organized and more discipline. We will know when to make jokes and when to be serious. Students also won't take advantage on the teachers as they are close with the students.

Secondly, to have an effective classroom management teachers should have time management. Time management is very important for everyone especially the teachers. This is because they need to change class every 40 or 90 minutes. One day they might have more a class to be taught. As the subject or class period changes, students will start to loiter around to make it even worse. In order to change this situation, teacher need to set their lesson plan accordingly so that they can manage to end their class earlier for about 5 minute and get ready to go to the other classes. If the teacher is not able to finish whatever they have plan in their lesson plan they can eventually continue the lesson in the next class by asking the students to get ready with the topic. This will save the time of the teacher as well as the students.

Last thing will be the teaching approaches. To make a classroom more effective teachers should know how to tackle the students by the teaching approaches that they are using in the classroom. In order for the students to get involve and be active mentally and physically is to conduct some interesting activities in their teaching and learning process. Some students might be hyper active and some can be extremely slow learners. To identify this problem, teacher should use the anecdotal record to observe and evaluate the student's behavior and activities each and every day. By this anecdotal records, teacher can know what is actually the problem of the student and try to resolve the problem.

These are the main three ways to make a classroom management effective. Hope that these ways can help you to make your very own classroom management effective. Thank you for reading the post. Have a nice day.

Classroom management (Week 8)

Greetings to everyone,

Today we have learn about the classroom management as our lecturer start the class by letting us to read some articles on the classroom management. Some articles was so sad to read because teachers who need to educate the students could not understand them in terms of their mentality, behavior and so on. Punishing students according to their own mood is not good at all. We as in the education field should be emotionally balanced. We should know where and when to react in such manner. Let's see what is the issues that I have read through the article.

Student bleeds after get punched by the teacher.

As we know punishment especially canning the students should not be apply in schools. However, some of the teachers are not following the rules of not doing such punishment. Teachers who could not control their emotions and anger tend to do this kind of mistakes in the school. After did the mistake of punishing students in such ways they tend to give the students money to keep them quiet by not telling about it to anyone.

As a teacher, we should be professional enough to make things not personal. If a student were to scold you or not obey your orders let them be like that. By punishing them nothing going to change. Unless the punishment is in a positive way and they tend to realize their own mistakes and apologize to you.

So, basically teachers and students need to cooperate each other to avoid this type of issues. Well that's all for today. Thank you.

Tips on Micro Teaching (Week 7)

Hi everyone. Today I will talk about the tips on how to improve and conduct a micro teaching. Let's begin. First of all, we need to start with lesson plan. We must know what to teach, who are the students in our classroom and how long is our subject period. For an example, we need to identify our students and their abilities. Obviously, there will be mixed ability students in our classroom. It could be poor, average and good or just poor and average.

To conduct a micro teaching we should have some input and some activities for the students to do. It can be individual or group. Usage of whiteboard or worksheets and also power point slides is a must to engage the students in our teaching and learning process. Give the students at least one hand out or worksheet as reference for them to refer. Lesson plan need to be specific, organized and systematic. Every lesson plan need at least one reflection as a conclusion. They also can conduct a mini quiz at the end of the lesson to test the understanding of our teaching.

Micro teaching must last to 30 to 40 minutes. Before the student could conduct a micro teaching, they need to have a rehearsal to make themselves feel more comfortable. We should rearrange the room to make it as suitable as it is for the students and also the teacher. We can always refer to our lesson plan if we want but not in an obvious way where the students can see our mistake. Before we start the micro teaching, we can also check the prior knowledge of the students about the particular subject or topic.

The main tips on micro teaching:

1. Prepare

2. Cover all contents

3. Practice make perfect

4. Identify the aim

5. Be confident

6. Power point

7. Have back up plan

8. Finally, RELAX!

There you go. That's all about micro teaching. If we able to follow all thee steps for our micro teaching, definitely, it will turn out to be a success. Thank you.

Assignment Presentation - Micro Teaching (Week 6)

Greetings to everyone. How are you all? I hope you all are great this week. I am great too because I have done with my Assignment 2 for Pedagogy in Education paper. Well, it wasn't turn out to be a good feedback yet I manage to present my level best because i remembered the quote that my lecturer always say to us: 'Even it's a last minute preparation, just give out the best'.

Very well, the assignment question is to do three sets of lesson plan by choosing any of the school of thought that we have learnt in the previous classes. Then, out of that three lesson plans we should choose one and present it to the class by doing micro teaching which means teach as how we planned for 30 minutes in the class. First of all, micro teaching means that we need to teach a small group of students assuming that they are the real school students who are going to face in the future. It helps the students to experience how teaching would be in front of a real classroom environment.

In my assignment, I have chosen the cognitive school of thought because it was easy to plan the lesson as it requires a lot of thinking skills. I have put in almost all the approaches in my lesson plan and begin with the assignment. The three lesson plans was about English language class with 30 students in it. The students were mixed up with different abilities as seen poor, average and good. I have planned the activities accordingly and I have put in a lot of activities for the students to answer and participate.

Since i presented about my first lesson plan which is about Friends. I gave the students an activity called Hangman. It was fun playing with my friends assuming that they are the group of secondary school students.

Ever since, this was my first micro teaching, I was too nervous to stand in front of the classroom as a teacher. Some how, I managed to complete my 30 minutes with whatever I have planned. There were some place where I forgot to give the exact instructions to the students. When I realize it, I thought my world going to end. I was in that kind of situation.

Finally, my lecturer gave the feedback where I should improve myself and the lesson plan I did. As what she had mentioned I missed some instructions in some places, I didn't really praised my students for giving the correct answers, the fluency wasn't there when I present and I need to improve in my teaching skill because it was totally a teacher-centered teaching approach not student-centered.

I really appreciated whatever comments that I got from my lecturer because it helps me in some ways to improve myself. That's all about my micro teaching for today. Thank you for spending your precious time by reading my post. Have a nice day. Until we meet again, I'm Durasheeny signing out from the blog. Thank you.

Behavioral School of Thought (Week 5)

Hello there. It's me again. You might thinking why am I posting the same school of thought as last week by seeing the title. Wait... Don't judge the book by it's cover. Last week I just talked about the introduction of behavioral school of thought. Today, I am going to talk about the teaching approaches that can be used in behavioral school of thought. So, let's begin.

1. Programmed instruction (PI) - teaching using images.

2. Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) - use computers to present PI with specific learning tasks. Help to engage students more in drill and practice.

3. Mastery Learning - students should master the knowledge using their interest.

4. Precision Teaching (PT) - learners master the facts and skills by practicing until they reach the highest level. "Practice make perfect". In this case, teachers will be the observer while students learn things themselves.

5. Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) - use of reinforcement to encourage students to perform better.

Well, that is all for today. Yes, it is simple as that. Teaching approaches in behavioral school of thought was what we were facing when we studied in our schools. It's just that we didn't realize about it and we have no idea about it. All we know was teachers teaching whatever they want in order to finish the syllabus. Actually that was absolutely wrong. They did that teaching approaches to attract the students attention as well as teach what we are interested on. Well, its never too late to realize.

Thank you for reading the post. Please leave a comment below if you find this post interesting enough to read through. Will see you in the next post next week with a new title.
